Hi, I’m Dan Potvin, and together with my son JP, we run Shire Farms Land Services here in Stamford, Vermont. Forestry and land work run deep in our family—we’re proud to be fourth-generation loggers and foresters, with a combined 40 years of hands-on experience serving Southern Vermont and Western Massachusetts.
For us, this work is more than just a job. It’s a way of life.
Whether we’re building a pond, clearing new pasture for animals, or prepping a home site from raw land, we treat every project like it’s our own. We understand the land because we’ve lived and worked on it our whole lives. And we bring that same care, respect, and attention to detail to every piece of property we touch.
Personally, I’m passionate about local agriculture and doing my part to help build a resilient, sustainable future for this region. I believe healthy land and strong communities go hand in hand—and our goal is to help folks make the most of their land in a way that’s practical, long-lasting, and true to their values.
Here’s JP: “I grew up working beside my dad, learning the ropes from a young age. Now I bring those same values into every job we take on. We take pride in doing things right the first time—and treating people the way we’d want to be treated.”
If that sounds like something you care about too, we’d love to work with you.
